The Best And Worst Bathrooms In Louisville, According To Reddit

We've made slideshows rating everything in Louisville — best date spots, best restaurants, most Instagrammable places, etc. — so it only made sense that we should exercise the creative liberties that being an alt-weekly allows us by taking a look at a grittier subject: bathrooms.

Yep, bathrooms. Redditors in r/Louisville recently shared their picks for the best and the worst places in Louisville to go when you've gotta go, and we mostly agree with their choices.

That said, this list is just for fun; these are just opinions. We're not going to stop going to any of the bad-bathroom venues just because of their bathrooms, and neither should you.

At the end of these lists, we usually give a disclaimer that the slideshow is not ranked and is not all-inclusive, that you should please email us if we left out an important one. This time, we say: please do not email us. We are happy not to think about bathrooms anymore.

According to folks on Reddit, this tracks; the bathrooms are elite with tall doors that also reach the floor. UnbridledCarnage said, “Von Maur is the BEST mall pooping experience. Always clean, never crowded, and the wood makes you feel special. Von Maur poops are 9.9/10.” tacobelmont said, “You gotta go when the pianist is playing too. An elegant experience.”

Omni Louisville Hotel 400 S. 2nd St. Reddit user AbsintheFountain said, “The restrooms inside the Omni just outside the marketplace are top-tier.” Word of advice: hotels have public bathrooms, and this Reddit user takes that as a good sign of cleanliness. User Kygal1881 said, “I had never thought about using hotel bathrooms until my boss was telling me that's where her husband always goes if they are traveling. Smart idea!”

21c Museum Hotel 700 W. Main St. There actually isn't much description for why Redditors like the 21c bathrooms, but several of them say that they do. In fairness, it's a very artsy hotel — surely the bathrooms would have to be pretty neat, too.

Tartan House 1027 E. Main St. A recently opened bar on the edge of NuLu, Tartan House is getting rave reviews for its ambiance, drinks, and apparently, its posh bathrooms. Redditer eeirich said, "Recently went to Tartan House for the first time. Their bathrooms were wonderful. Smelled good, nicely decorated, and had sturdy hand towels. 10/10 would recommend."

The Seelbach Hilton Louisville 500 S. 4th St. The Seelbach, one of Louisville’s most celebrated hotels, has a storied history (and really good shitters, apparently). HoosierJive said, “Best is the Seelbach with the marble and private wooden door stalls.”

This reddit user, pandainaformerlife said, “I get misgendered a lot, so I'm always happy to see all gender/single stall bathrooms when out and about. The Awry bathrooms are fun.”

Mag Bar, or, let's say, Mag Bar And Occasional Parking Garage, is a longtime favorite venue and an important one to the local music community. No one cleans them ever and the womens stalls have blood and shit covering the floors and the toilets are clogged with toilet paper, but there is never toilet paper in the stall. Plus, it is one of the most inclusive and fun bars in the city and has been for a long, long time.

Zanzabar 2100 S. Preston St. This one is complicated. We love Zanzabar as a music venue, but the bathrooms are giving users on Reddit pause. Themendingofthegown said, “That one in their event space is definitely sus and not one I think anybody feels comfortable using regardless of clientele. Co-op bathroom but the stalls are so open to see ppl inside.”
