Experience the magic of Independence Day in the Louisville area, when the night sky transforms into a dazzling display of colors and patterns. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor, there are a number of fantastic spots to watch fireworks light up the evening sky on the 4th of July.

From Waterfront Park and Kentucky Kingdom to Oldham County, there are exciting events happening all across town. For a unique experience, board the Belle of Louisville for a riverboat cruise complete with a stunning view of the fireworks from the Ohio River.

Waterfront Park Thursday, July 4
4th of July Celebration

129 River Rd. | 5:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.

This free event on the Big Four Lawn will begin with Kosair for Kids family activities, and then continue into opening ceremonies, entertainment, the Waterfront Park’s Most Talented show, and then a fireworks.

Crescent Hill July 4th Festival

Thursday, July 4

The Crescent Hill Community Council will host a day-long festival with an art fair, live music, a kids zone — including free inflatable games and field games with prizes — as well as food and beer booths. There will also be a pet contest, a cake baking contest, games of chance, and of course, fireworks after sunset.

Paristown Fourth of July

Paristown’s Fourth of July event is presented by Jack Daniels. Browse the free Brent Street Artisan Market 10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Listen to The Crashers and Soul Circus perform 5:00–9:45 p.m. Stand in awe of the second annual Jeff's Donuts National Donut Hole Eating Championship, a four-minute frenzy of devouring donut holes in competition for a $1,000 prize. And at 9:45 p.m., experience the fifth annual Paristown fireworks show produced by Zambelli.

Sellersburg Independence Day Event

The Town of Sellersburg, 16 minutes north of Louisville in Indiana, is hosting its own 4th of July event in the heart of the town. Festivities begin at 11 p.m., with food vendors placed all across the street. The Rumors are set to come to town at 6 p.m, with fireworks to begin after dark around 9:45 p.m.

Kick off your Fourth of July weekend with the Red, White and Bluegrass Bash at Kentucky Kingdom. The amusement park is commemorating Independence Day with fireworks all weekend and special, event-based food over the course of the weekend. Live music will also be heard across the park.

Simpsonville’s Fourth of July festivities start early in the day, sparking crowds all day with shopping venues at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass, food at concession stands and live music all day. Simpsonville is just under 30 minutes away from Downtown Louisville. The pre-game show with a live DJ starts at 9 p.m., with fireworks slated for 10 p.m.
