Gannett Watch

Gannett Inc., which owns The Courier-Journal, reported April revenues on Tuesday. The company didn’t break out online performance, according to published reports, except to say it attracted 25.5 million uniques versus 23.1 million the year before. That’s a 10.4 percent gain, which matches the percentage for Gannett’s ad revenue year-over-year decrease. Also, a source from inside the C-J tells LEO that Gannett is set to conduct a more thorough examination of employee dependents — that is, to make sure the folks who are on the Gannett health insurance plan as dependents of employees are legit. That is expected to include a requirement to prove your spouse is your spouse and your kids your kids, by showing birth certificates and marriage licenses. Big Brother called — he’s asking for your thumbprint.
