Your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper, Mic Tyson is the Heltah Skeltah emcee’s long-gestating third official long-player. While he may never attain crossover appeal (nor does he seek it), it’d be nice if more of the world was aware of the greatness of P. No matter, though, as Tyson delivers on every level. Gritty, dirty production from the likes of Alchemist, Evidence, and 9th Wonder serve as the bed for some of Price’s hardest and funniest bars yet. Like early Tyson fights, few of the songs break three minutes and satisfy despite their brevity. A warning for those who listen to music on headphones during their corporate day jobs (ahem): Lines like “Hush”’s Mother made you, mother had you, but mother fuck you maybe aren’t the best to have rattling through your skull in daylight hours.
