JASON’S DELI, 410 N. Hurstbourne Pkwy Ste. 100, 412-4101,  HYPERLINK "http://www.jasonsdeli.com" www.jasonsdeli.com. A relatively new arrival, Jason’s Deli is attracting big crowds to the East End suburbs. Menu items like the delicious New York Yankee sandwich make it worth the trip. (Reviewed 5/7/08; Rating: 78)

COTTAGE INN, 570 Eastern Pkwy., 637-4325. Serving up simple, affordable down-home fare since 1929, the Cottage Inn is one of Louisville’s oldest eateries in continuous operation. It offers easy-on-the-wallet fare that invites frequent return visits. (Reviewed 5/14/08; Rating: 90)

MARKET STREET FISH HOUSE, 133 E. Market St., New Albany, (812) 590-3377. The Market Street Fish House makes a worthy addition to the Metro’s seafood dining scene. The restaurant offers a short, affordable and delightful menu of competently fried fresh seafood and sides. (Reviewed 5/21/08; Rating: 81)

LAS GORDITAS, 4756 Bardstown Rd., 492-0112. The Las Gorditas taco stand rolls into the parking lot at Eastland Shopping Center (where Buechel meets Fern Creek on Bardstown Road) just about every weekend evening. There’s almost always a crowd, and it’s usually a happy mix of Latino and Anglo diners, united in shared enjoyment of really good Mexican food. (Reviewed 5/28/08; Rating: N/A)

MACCA’S FLORIDA SEAFOOD GRILL & BAR, 1315 Herr Ln., 618-2770, www.maccasgrill.com. Macca’s holds down a prime spot in the Westport Village center. Outside seating, clean restrooms and a full bar, with plenty of scurrying employees wearing matching attire, put the restaurant squarely in the upscale-casual realm. (Reviewed 6/4/08; Rating: N/A)

JADE PALACE, 1109 Herr Ln., 425-9878. This popular local Chinese eatery has been around for about 20 years, and recently got a new look as the Westport Village renovation put a fancy facade on the old building. (Reviewed 6/11/08; Rating: 86)
